Discover Hi Wings

If you’re cruising through North Austin and suddenly craving crispy wings with serious flavor, Hi Wings at 2525 W Anderson Ln. #135, Austin, TX 78757, United States, is the kind of place that pulls you in and keeps you coming back. I’ve stopped by more times than I can count-sometimes for a quick lunch between meetings, other times for a laid-back dinner with friends-and the experience has been consistently solid.

The first thing you notice is the smell. It’s that unmistakable mix of freshly fried chicken, savory sauces, and warm spices. The menu is refreshingly straightforward but packed with variety. You’ve got classic buffalo wings, honey garlic, lemon pepper, and a few bold house specialties that balance sweet, spicy, and smoky flavors in one bite. On my last visit, I ordered a 10-piece combo with half spicy Korean-style wings and half classic hot. The skin was crisp without being greasy, and the meat stayed juicy all the way to the bone. That’s not easy to pull off.

According to the National Chicken Council, Americans consume over 1.4 billion chicken wings during major sporting events alone. That tells you how competitive the wing game is. So when a local diner in Austin manages to stand out, it’s worth talking about. The team here clearly understands proper fry temperature and sauce application. From a culinary standpoint, achieving that crunchy exterior requires oil heated to around 350-375°F, and timing is everything. Undercook them, and you lose texture; overcook them, and they dry out. The kitchen at Hi Wings gets that balance right.

Beyond wings, the menu includes tenders, fries, fried rice options, and combo platters that make it easy to share. I once brought a group of coworkers-six of us, all with different tastes. One ordered mild boneless wings, another went all-in on extra hot, and someone else chose a rice bowl topped with crispy chicken. Everyone left satisfied, which says a lot about menu flexibility. The portions are generous without feeling excessive, and the prices are fair for Austin.

Customer reviews across platforms consistently mention friendly service and quick turnaround times. In my experience, even during busy dinner hours, orders come out faster than you’d expect. That efficiency matters, especially in a casual dining spot where people often stop in before heading to nearby shopping centers or catching up with friends. The location on W Anderson Lane makes it convenient if you’re running errands or exploring North Austin.

Food safety and consistency also stand out. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration emphasizes proper food handling practices as essential in preventing foodborne illness, and you can see that the team maintains a clean front counter and organized kitchen workflow. While I can’t speak to behind-the-scenes operations in detail, the overall presentation and taste suggest attention to quality control.

Flavor-wise, what sets this place apart is the layering. The sauces don’t just sit on top of the wings; they cling and soak slightly into the crispy coating without making it soggy. That balance between texture and flavor shows real know-how. Even the fries-often an afterthought at wing spots-arrive hot and well-seasoned.

Of course, no restaurant is perfect. Seating can feel limited during peak hours, and parking around the plaza sometimes requires a short walk. Still, those are minor trade-offs for food that delivers consistently. If you’re the type who reads reviews before trying a new diner, you’ll notice a pattern: people come for the wings and return for the reliability.

Whether you’re into traditional buffalo, bold Asian-inspired sauces, or simple crispy tenders with a side of ranch, this Austin spot has carved out its niche. It’s casual, flavorful, and dependable-exactly what you want when wings are on your mind.

  • Love the service here! Push the button on the wall and they’re there right away. We had the Parmesan French fries and fried chicken with sauce on the Korean sauce on the side. Very good fried chicken btw. It fed 2.5 people.

  • I am currently here visiting for the holiday's with my youngest. The order today of honey/ginger wings and garlic parmesan fries were the ABSOLUTE BEST wings and fries that I've ever had. The fries were crisp and perfectly battered as well as my wings were plump, totally covered in sauce and very tasty. I regret that my visit is coming to an end because this spot would've become a several times a week visit! Delish

  • Absolutely fantastic wings. They were huge, well fried, and a massive serving. The flavors were quite potent and had many options, will definitely be going back to try some different sauces. The service was a tad funky as ordering was all done via QR code and on our phones. It felt a tad clunky and I wasn't sure if I had ordered or not. All in all it wasn't that bad and the food came out in good time.

  • We ordered the Half Crispy Chicken with Sweet & Sour sauce, and 5 Battered Wings with Peach Habanero. We got both sauces on the side to keep the chicken crispy, and that was the right call! The chicken was super crispy and well seasoned on its own. The sweet & sour was classic and tangy, while the peach habanero had a nice balance of heat and sweetness. Garlic parmesan fries could have been better though

  • Greeted by a nice lady once we walked in. Parmershan fries to start that were crunchy and melt in your mouth. The wings were the best Korean style wings I've had. Thick crunchy breading and tender jucy inside. Better than bb.q chicken or other spots in austin. Will be returning soon.

  • Rating: 4.5/5 [delivery] Fried Mushrooms ($5.99): Battered cremini mushrooms with almost no flavor. We had to dunk them in the honey-mustard just to give them some taste, so feel free to skip this one. We also tried the marinara out of curiosity; the pairing was interesting but didn’t help much. Sweet Garlic Bread ($3.99): Two slices of garlic bread drizzled with honey—delicious! Honey makes everything better, though I wish the garlic flavor was more prominent; the flavor was too subtle for something labeled “garlic bread.” 10 Battered Wings ($20.99): You can pick two sauces, so we chose Peach Habanero and Sweet Soy. - Peach Habanero: Tasty, but the peach and heat were more subdued than I’d like. Oddly, the side sauce we tried on a previous visit packed more of a punch. - Sweet Soy: A reliable favorite whenever we test a new Korean fried-chicken spot—savory, balanced, and the one everyone kept reaching for. Garlic Lover's Chicken Half ($21.99): Fried chicken topped with a generous amount of fresh garlic and honey, served with one side—we chose pickled radish. The garlic honey glaze was an umami bomb! I could only eat one piece because of how intense it was. The chicken was huge, perfectly battered, and crispy. My husband loved this dish. We saved the extra garlic-honey sauce; it’s fantastic over rice or stir-fried into another dish. Battered Wings (5 pcs - $13.49): These thin-battered wings were crispy on the outside and juicy inside. We got them tossed in sweet soy, which was absolutely delicious. The wings were a great size and stayed crunchy. I personally preferred these over the Garlic Lover's Chicken. For dipping sauce, we chose honey mustard, which was just okay. We also tried an extra 2 oz of Peach Habanero sauce ($2.50), which was fire—sweet with a nice spicy kick. Definitely worth trying at least once!

  • Discalimer: This isn't my first trip here, my family and friends have eaten here about 5x prior to tonight. Every time the food and service is amazing. P.S. I have been to Korea and had the fried chicken experience there! Dining here is an authentic experience!! 10/10 I definitely recommend!!

  • I’ve visited Hi Wings several times. Their fried chicken is solid. I especially love the garlic parmesan and orange chicken flavors. Ordering is easy by phone (QR code). Service is limited (not much table service), but the staff are friendly.
